Instructions and Materials
Before the Event
- Download and read the Ways to Make your Snapshot Day a Success guide.
- Download and use our official logos in your own promotional materials.
- A patron specific promotional flyer and press release are also available for download.
- Download and print off our patron survey to collect comments on Snapshot Day.
- If Tuesday, October 22, is not a feasible day for your library, please pick another date close to it.
- Decide how you will handle photo permissions. You may want to read this Flickr discussion on photo permissions in libraries. We also have an optional permission form available for download. Note: By submitting your materials to Wyoming Snapshot Day, you are granting permission for them to be used in print, online, or in any other format.
Important Note on Photos
Please use landscape (horizontal) orientation and not portrait (vertical) orientation when you take photos, and refrain from using an extra-wide dimension. I know we’ve all become accustomed to just holding up our phones and snapping away, but please turn those phones sideways.
The reason? Selected photos will be used in a PowerPoint presentation at the Wyoming Library Association, and standard-dimension, horizontal photos work best.
Also, when submitting photos, send the largest file you have — please do not resize them smaller. If you use Google Photos, please check your settings to make sure it’s uploading the full size file.
Submitting Materials
- Send comments in the body of an email or as an attached text file (Word or Word-compatible) to Christi Weinzierl at christi.weinzierl1@wyo.gov. Please do NOT scan your comment forms and send as a PDF.
- Please email photos as email attachments to Christi Weinzierl at christi.weinzierl1@wyo.gov You may also use a file sharing tool such as DropBox or Google Drive. If using a file sharing tool and submitting at multiple times throughout the day, please save each batch in a separate folder so we don’t upload the same photos twice.
- Video may be emailed as an attachment to Christi. If that does not work, contact her for instructions. Any video will be posted to the Wyoming State Library YouTube channel.
- Permissions are the responsibility of the local library. We do not collect permissions. By submitting your materials, you grant the Wyoming State Library permission to use them for non-commercial purposes in any format.
